Do companies that control the toothpaste market, fighting for dominance of the supermarket consumers really heart health? The two market leaders Colgate Palmolive (Colgate Ultra Brite, Tom's of Maine), and Procter & Gamble (Crest) are part of an oligopoly control 60% of the toothpaste market, GlaxoSmithKline (Aquafresh) and Church & Dwight (Arm & Hammer, flatter, Mentadent, Aim, Pepsodent gained Unilever 2003) and Johnson & Johnson (Rembrandt) represent most of the rest of the U.S. market.

Clearly, these conglomerates are fighting fiercely any fraction of a point of market share and have a common interest in ensuring that the quality of consumer research as thin as possible. To do this using allies such as regulators, American Chemistry Council and the manufacturers of toxic chemicals.

This is clearly demonstrated by the way the industry of conspiring to deceive consumers in May 2009, a letter of leakage through the blogosphere, mentioning how chemical lobby which intends to cover pressure consumers about BPA (bisphenol A) Baby bottles with "recruiting tactics of fear" as a threat to consumers with limited access to food for affordable child. using a "young pregnant mother who would be willing to talk around the country about the benefits of BPA, as spokesman for his "Holy Grail".

Focusing on the populations of the historically used scare tactics, including "African-Americans and Hispanics and the poor "and" Befriending people who are able to manipulate the legislative process. "the incredible arrogance of big industry that reflects consumer concerns highlighted by Johnson & Johnson replies to 27 May 2009 Letter from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics J & J CEO William C. Weldon, demanding that their products made for children contain no carcinogenic pollutants hidden 1.4-dioxane and formaldehyde – which also occurs in most toothpastes of the major brands as contaminants in ingredients. Both of these chemicals cause cancer in animals, and formaldehyde is also known to cause rashes in people that are sensitive to this chemical.

So what is the response of J & J? It punishes the messenger: "We are disappointed that the Countryside for Safe Cosmetics has been mistakenly characterized the safety of our products, misrepresented virtually all scientists and government agencies that control the safety of the ingredients, and unnecessarily alarmed parents "

Then they go and grossly misrepresent the facts: "The FDA and other government agencies around the world look to these minimum levels of security, and all our products meet or exceed regulations in each country where they are sold. "But the FDA does not regulate the cosmetic and do not require companies to test their own security products. In addition, J & J is able to market these products no toxins in Japan to comply with regulations. So once again, all profits at the expense of safety.

Many toxic chemicals bioaccumulation, which means it does not degrade in the body, but to build the tanks, with each new entry – each use of toothpaste, deposits are growing. This is significant considering that these deposits are provided by other sources. For example, the active ingredient most commonly used in toothpaste with fluoride, fluoride added to water, soft drinks, juices and other sources, and you exposed to doses far beyond any level of security.

Moreover, these chemicals interact with other chemicals – internal and external products. For example, triclosan, an antibacterial agent in most anti-bacterial toothpaste (for example, the number of Colgate Total) interacts with the chlorine in tap water and turns into chloroform. Clearly, all these chemicals have a different function – Especially undocumented when exposed to a multitude of volatile organic compounds, drugs and contaminants in food ingredients and processes.
